Dawlish Indoors Bowls Club opened its doors for its annual ‘Taster Day’, the purpose of which was to encouraging young and old to ‘have a go’ at indoor bowls.
First through the door was young Amelie, who showed a lot of promise.
Coached by experienced club member, Cherry Chapman, Amelie soon got to grips with line and length, managing to hit the jack on only her fourth bowl. Well done Amelie!
All told, throughout the day, 12 newcomers gave it a try and 7 signed up for coaching sessions, including one junior. This will hopefully lead to additional membership of our very friendly club.
Club member and senior coach, Sue Worthington, in charge of the event, commented: “Many thanks to all the club volunteers, who gave up their time during the weekend to make this happen. Bowls is a great sport and hopefully, we have unlocked some fresh talent for the coming season”!
