DIBC is going Green – outside!

Dawlish and District Indoor Bowls Association are very pleased to announce that their application for a Green Impact Fund has been approved by Devon County Council and that with this government funding they are now in a position to go ahead with the planned installation of solar panels on the clubhouse roof.

The Green Impact Fund is a capital grant scheme open to all businesses and community organisations located within this area. Grants of between £5,000 and £49,999 were available to businesses and community organisations that are developing or implementing innovative solutions to reduce their environmental impact and help move towards a carbon net-zero economy.

Eligible projects included renewable energy installations, energy efficiency improvements, waste reduction programmes, and sustainable product development. DIBC were just one of many organisations in the local area to apply.

An order has been placed with Prostar Energy, with installation due to take place on March 20-21st 2025!

The primary aim of installing solar panels is to reduce our ever increasing energy costs, thus keeping memberships fees as low as possible in future years.

This is also a major step forward in ensuring the financial stability of the club, and will allow DIBC to continue to maintain and upgrade the facilities we all enjoy so much in future years, such as improving disabled access and the carpet.

The committee would also like to personally thank all those members who have agreed to pay up front for their next 5 years membership. This shows their personal commitment to the club and is a vital element in allowing DIBC to meet its funding commitment – to pay half of the solar panel installation costs.
