Dawlish and District Indoor Bowls Club have now gone solar!

On the 20th March 2025, the Dawlish and District Indoor Bowls club had their solar panels successfully installed and are already seeing the benefits that cheaper electricty costs will bring to the club.

The scaffolding went up on the 19th March, with the panels delivered and fitted onto the roof by Prostar engineers on the afternoon of the 20th March 2025. Less than a week later the DNO approval was also received.

All in all, this was quite an achievement. The funding required was made up from the combination of a Green Impact Fund from the Government, a “locality budget” donation from local councillor Martin Wrigley, along with substantial long-term support from many of our members.

One of the main stipulations of the GIF was that implimentation had to be by 30th March 2025, so all of this was achieved in a very tight timeline indeed.

All of the committee worked very hard to achieve this outcome (including the solar energy sub-committee), but most specifically thanks must go to our “relatively” new chairman Julian Turner (affectionately called Mr. kWh!) for driving this through.
