Dawlish and District Indoor Bowls Club are gearing up for a bumper new winter season.
For those seeking a fun and sociable atmosphere there will be the usual mix of friendlies with other bowls clubs in the area (and elsewhere), as well as weekly roll-ups. For those seeking more there are the very competitive leagues of men’s and ladies pairs, triples, 4 woods, etc., to take part in, as well as an interclub league with other local teams (e. g. Abbrook Park, Chudleigh, the Den, the Lawn, Bitton Park and Marina). These are all well contested with many of the pairings and teams playing year after year.
There will also be the annual Club Championships to compete in, and for relative newcomers we have the Novice Cup, another very popular and well subscribed event. Last season there were so many entrants there was an afternoon and evening set aside for competitors each week.
This year there will be at least 3 open competitions to potentially enter (Sunday 30th November, Sunday 11th January, Sunday 8th March so far). These are a relatively new venture, organised through Riviera Bowls Comps. All those competing pay an entry fee, but with the opportunity to win money, and the chance to go further if successful, into a season ending finale!

Additionally, there is the annual “Taster Day”, this year taking place on Saturday 27th September, from 10am to 4pm. This is an opportunity to come along and take a look around the club, so note of the day/time in your calendar. Don’t worry if you don’t have the kit yet as there will be bowls to borrow, and complimentary tea or coffee on offer. Come and see what the clubhouse looks like, all the facilities it has and meet some of the very friendly club members.
