Dawlish Indoor Bowls hosted a very successful Open Singles competition last Sunday, 30th November 2025. Play started at 9.30 with 3 round-robins to determine who would make it into the final round-robin, held in the afternoon.
The event, only the second one to be held at DIBC since these competitions were introduced to the area by Riviera Bowls Comps, is the first one of 3 taking place this season. Dawlish will be hosting an Open Pairs before hosting another Open Singles.
The Open Pairs competition will take place on Sunday 11th January 2026, with the next Open Singles competition taking place on Sunday 8th March 2026. Look out for further details of these events nearer the time.
The standard of play was very high, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
The overall winner was James Northall, who outshone current #1 ranked player Anthony Hammett into second place, with our own Debs Kettley coming in a very valliant 3rd. Well done Debs!
Prize money for the winner was £85, the runner-up getting £40 with £25 going to third place.
As is the norm with these events, the club arranged for there to be food and drinks to purchase. A big thank you must go to Steph Cheshire and Caroline Takel for taking the time and effort to ensure everyone could replenish themselves during the day.
