Dawlish Indoor Bowls Club has reached the final of the prestigious Charles Parrott Cup. Peter Hayes, Publicity Officer, reports: “The semi-final, against Tiverton Bowls Club, was played at both home and away venues with the overall aggregate scores determining the winner.
“So, who was Charles Parrott?
“Charles Parrott was Men’s Indoor Captain at Sidmouth Indoor Bowls Club in 1984 and became President of the Club in 1989. Charles accepted the honour of becoming County President in 1992/93. It is believed that during his tenure, he introduced the idea of a trophy, to be played for, involving unbadged teams throughout the county. I am most grateful to John Mason from Sidmouth Bowls Club for furnishing these details.
“Back to the semi- final; in the home match, Dawlish home team comprising from left to right,
Kelvin Carter, Andrew Moore, John Pearce & Marc Baker won handsomely with a score of 33-6!
“The away team featuring, from left to right,
Barry Crugten, Nick Moore, Peter Hayes & Colin Parker had a terrific battle, narrowly losing 15-16. However, overall, Dawlish ran out winners by 48-22”.
