A number of members from the Dawlish Indoor Bowls Club continue to put in their valuable free time to help improve the facilities on offer to all members of the club. This follows on from the superb new kitchen installed at the start of last season.

The new open walkway

Through the summer months they have been very busy replacing the old gated entrances to the clubs rinks, which had featured for several decades. This more open “walkway” version enables easier access onto the rinks and additionally will allow for better viewing by spectators.

They have not stopped at this. Additional work goes on to build a replacement storeroom. The old storeroom had previously made way for the new kitchen, which was opened at the start of the 2022-23 season.

The start of the new season is fast approaching. New members, as well as old, will benefit from all that has been done so far, and there is more planned. Changes in the pipeline include opening up the kitchen area into the rinks to give an “open plan” look, which is considered likely to be somewhat less claustrophobic.

The club “Taster Day” takes place this year on the 23rd September 2023. This free open day will allow anyone wishing to join our club (or anyone new to the game) a chance to come along to see these new facilities, also to have a go at playing. Although all equipment is supplied, visitors are asked to bring flat soled shoes (no heels or ridges) if they can. Tea and coffee will be available, and the opening hours are anytime between 10am and 4pm.

Do come along if you can.
